The
Renaissance, or rebirth, is a time following the Medieval Age when the western
world reimagined and repurposed ancient architectural methods, and renewed the
love for the arts and the artists. There
has never been a moment when I was unaware of this city’s amazing past, as it
is still present today. Enormous
cathedrals, weathered basilicas, and incredible sculptures are around every
corner, holding fast as spectacular reminders of the importance of Florence’s
history. Class lessons have revealed a
major point that allowed Florence to become the birthplace of the Renaissance:
art was already there. It makes sense to
reform an appreciation for art around a city that still contains the ancient
and original works.
